PKB’s Vote Tabulation Suggests Increased DPR RI Seats

Vuons.net, Jakarta – Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal, the Director of Legislative Affairs at the Central Executive Board (DPP) of the National Awakening Party (PKB), stated that their internal vote tabulation indicates an increase in votes, potentially resulting in an additional 23 seats in the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI).

“Alhamdulillah, out of the existing 58 seats in Senayan, all are safe and there will be an increase to 81 seats due to this rise in votes,” said Cucun at the PKB DPP office in Central Jakarta on Sunday (18/2/2024), as reported by Antara.

Cucun revealed that based on the internal national data tabulated by PKB, their votes for DPR RI in the 2024 legislative election have significantly increased compared to the 2019 election, which translates to the number of PKB seats in Senayan.

“In terms of votes, PKB’s votes have increased by 6,007,425 or 2.41 percent, from 13,570,097 or 9.69 percent in the 2019 legislative election to 19,577,522 votes or 12.1 percent in the 2024 legislative election,” he said.

Seat Increase
He explained that the increase of 23 PKB seats occurred in several regions, including East Java with 3 seats (East Java II, East Java VIII, and East Java X), West Java with 5 seats (West Java I, West Java II, West Java IV, West Java VI, and West Java XI), Banten with 2 seats (Banten I and Banten II).

Furthermore, Sumatra with 5 seats (West Sumatra I, North Sumatra I, North Sumatra III, Riau I, South Sumatra I), Kalimantan with 2 seats (East Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan), Sulawesi with 3 seats (Central Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi), West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) with 1 seat (West Nusa Tenggara I), Maluku with 1 seat (North Maluku), and Papua with 1 seat (South Papua).

Coattail Effect
Cucun also attributed the increase in votes to the Coattail Effect of PKB General Chairman Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin) running as vice president candidate alongside presidential candidate number 1, Anies Baswedan.

“With his candidacy, there has been a significantly positive impact on the increase in PKB votes. As we all know, the coattail effect that intersects with the previous presidential election, we have achieved a significant increase in party votes,” he said.
